I visited Paris during all seasons and if I said spring was my favourite, summer might steal that first place in my heart.
It was so hot this holiday but enjoyed every moment. Truth be told, my body feels confused for all the rain in UK. I didn’t get used with the weather here. Although everyone is saying, it’s not the rain that makes you feel uncomfortable, but the wrong clothes. I’m approving this on one hand, but still…I just miss the feeling of heat kissing my skin, laying in the grass barefoot, seeing the sunrays playing on my walls while I’m working.
This summer is made for experiences. To take advantage of the long day when the sun is setting late, to take your friends for long walks, to eat that ice cream you’re always thinking while at gym, to meet new people, to start those dance lessons you keep postponing since you wrote them on your resolutions list. To live more with intention.
Most people don’t dare to do the simplest things that often bring the biggest results. They don’t dream anymore, they’re not curious, they don’t wonder, they don’t ask anymore…
But, this summer should be different…
It was Saturday. We were walking from Sacre Coeur to Champs Elysee using maps on the phone to check the route. I must confess I am bad at orientation and I end up in places I shouldn’t be. But most of the time, I am happy it turns like that as I get to see streets and places that I haven’t seen in any pictures.
After visiting Montmartre, a place so loved by tourists, it felt a bliss to enjoy the empty streets, while getting lost thanks to my “orientation” skills. With one eye on the map and one checking the surroundings, across the street we saw a blue gate that led to a beautiful garden and soon to realize it was actually like a small restaurant, a brasserie.
Back in February, I visited Versailles and when I saw this place, it reminded me about those royal rooms, maybe because of the paintings on the walls and all the green and flowers.
In my mind I was associating it with a small coffee shop where artists would get together to share ideas, paint and recite poems. Which even happened that day ???? An older man, I got the impression he was an actor, he started reciting from a book to the waiter. Hihi, I love French people. They have this exquisite taste about art and they’re not afraid to express themselves in public.
I am not drinking coffee every day, usually when I feel the need. Though, walking into this place, the only thing I was imagining was enjoying a coffee while sharing stories.
I have no idea how your imagination works, but for me, a simple view can create a dream in my head in seconds, I can see myself doing an activity, I can think about a smell, how I’ll take a picture even what I am going to talk about.
The nice thing about this place is not only about appearance, it’s also about people. The employees were polite and interested to get to know you better. Of course, when they hear your accent, they immediately ask where you’re coming from. The funniest is when they know the country, they reply with few words in your language. I don’t know if it’s a strategy of theirs, but definitely it makes the customers smile. And that’s the purpose anyway, to make sure people are happy and willing to return.
I think the owners had a great idea to put plants everywhere to create that feeling of being close to nature.
If I wouldn’t come here with my friends, I would definitely take my laptop and work. Such a place induces that kind of motivation to create the things you wish existed.
Or read. Believe it or not, they have a collection of books you can choose from.
Another thing to mention, if you have any music knowledge, they have a piano and a guitar you can practice with. I don’t really know if the guitar was meant to be used, but for sure the piano was functional.
I think this place has all I can think about to just relax and enjoy being outside. One thing I can’t advise is food, as I haven’t try it, but I doubt it it was disappointing, as I had a look at the other tables and the plating was remarkable.
As a conclusion, I guess the owners had this idea to create a heavenly looking place where people can feel creative and more cosy, just like home.
It is close to Moulin Rouge, so if you want to escape the crowd and spend some quality time, this is the brasserie to choose.
Address : Hôtel de Mademoiselle Mars
7, rue de la Rochefoucauld

It reminded me so much and I also want to remind you how important it is to take time for yourself, to explore the city you live in, to meet with your friends and family and talk whatever. Or just go alone, it’s nothing wrong with that. To give yourself a chance to relax. When was the last time you did that?

You kinda owe it to yourself to do all the things you’ve dreamed.
